I think it’s so they don’t get attacked or killed in their sleep. Normally, in stories such as this, the adventurers travel during the day and take turns keeping watch at night. But, because the Muulorn, which are similar to werewolves, are stronger at night, they are better off traveling at night. This is so they are all awake and alert if they’re attacked at night. If they were to take turns sleeping at night, then only one or two of them would be awake if they were ambushed by Muulorn, which could escalate very quickly and end badly. Also, we’re talking about magic powers here, so all of their magic combined is probably no match for even one Muulorn’s magic powers at night.
This reminds me of Book One of a webcomic called Root and Branch. There’s a scene where a group of thieves ambushes and kills the convoy that had been sent with supplies to the post where Ariana the elf was staying. At this point in the story, she had bonded with the men there and felt it was necessary to get vengeance for the men who had been killed. So, in the middle of the night, she tracked down the thieves responsible and slaughtered all of them in their sleep before they knew what had happened. It’s probably the darkest scene in Root and Branch so far. It’s actually usually pretty upbeat and funny.

Yeah, it's basically a thought process of "let's not be at our most vulnerable when they're going to be out and about"!

I am a bit confused by the last panel. So they say it is probably not safe during the night, right? Because they get magic from the moon, I guess? Also probably they see better in the dark than humans I assume.
So that would make sense if they travelled during the day, right?
But then why is Xira suggesting to sleep during the day?
