Also, how did I miss that there was a sound effect as the mark grew? Totally sounds like it's searing itself onto his arm.

NO WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! Totally ties in with the fact that they seem to cremate their dead... Their cause or cleansing ideology ties in with fire in more ways than one. HMMM...
(Also I can't believe you just told me that right off the bat! Should I consider it irrelevant to the plot? Or just a random act of kindness?)
