Not all the doors unlock this way -- we saw Esra use a normal key ~3 pages ago! A door that unlocks using the mark is accessible to literally anyone with the Order's mark (but is usually more secure against non-order folks since it has no lock to pick); a door that unlocks with a key is still restricted to the smaller number of folks who have a key (but doesn't have the extra security of being magical).

I can't remember if this was addressed before, but is Esra unlocking the door on this page? If it's unlocked via magical hand recognition software, for what did Quentin need a 'key'? Or does it have more than one locking mechanism?
