So my hypothesis...Xira's rune writing abilities stem from a separate entity that's currently being suppressed by the circle (hence the 'I don't feel anything weird in here, like a non magic person would' statement). The flaw there is...well, he obviously has the black tipped hair of a natural runewriter. OR his miscast has somehow fused someone else's mind with his own, but not necessarily the witch working for the Order. That person may not even be alive. Or maybe their mind was copied over into Xira's? OR this is a 'self aware entity' created entirely by Xira. Maybe an imaginary friend that was made to be more amd more real by being ostracized from normal society? Maybe he was never with a group to begin with and he's just always been alone with this other entity in his head?

I dunno, just theorizing. XD

Okay, now that I'm rereading the last panel, it might actually feel weird to him in there, and he's trying to low-key check and see if it does to anyone else too.
