That's because there's runes on their scalp too! If you cut your hair, the part what shows what runewriter you are will actually change to be at the ends. It's really interesting.

Their scalps are marked. I don't know if you can tell what sort of runewriter they are from them, but both Æmber and the healer priest back in the temple have visible marks.

Somehow I completely missed that that guy was a runewriter (and I knew they have marks, I just... didn't notice?), so who knows, maybe it would work? XD ^^"
