Could be one of those stories when the jerk is trnasformed into an animalt to learn humilit/love/loyalty etc.
There is a Hungarian cartoon when a violent kid is transformed into a sparrow and has all sorts of adventures. somewhat similar is Niels Holgerson.
I want this now. Someone make this happen :D

I remember seeing this when I was in the second grade and never forgot it seemed like they played up the "alcohol is bad" message at school when it seemed so out of place in the movie. The in the US, it was called Willy the Sparrow.
