assuming that Sev is correct, I..... I GUESS
there's probably some question about whether or not Sev's arms would remain transformed in the absence of Severian himself, but since no one's sure what's going on with that particular miscast I GUESS THERE'S JUST ONE WAY TO FIND OUT and sev would just, rather not test it,

So, if the facestealer, hypothetically, dissolved Sev entirely (D:), just the tentacles would be left, creepily flopping around? (Sorry for evoking that mental image.)
