Re: friends -- both statements are accurate! Tareth has been pretty cloistered all her life and Sev is kind of a weird outsider in a small village.
also oh my goodness, it is Very Good that most runewriters don't get powers until after they learn to talk or I suspect this would be a Problem for like, every witch child

... Did Tarri not have any friends back home except for him? Wait, did -he- not have any friends his age except for her?
Also, is Sev... reflecting on his actions -in the last panel? That can't be!
And I suddenly had this image of Xira, when he was a kid, forgetting that -thinking- at people didn't work if they can't hear him - the same way he now forgets talking at Tareth is not enough if she can't see him.
