I'm attempting it now, and it works for me if you do it kinda deep in your throat! Jonan's kind of a tiny guy to be growling, though. Like, he's tall but that's about it.
(Runewriters Fact: I audibly act out all of Jonan's "dialogue" while scripting.)

I'm trying to imagine how many menacing sounds Jonan can make with his lips stuck shut. I'll bet there's a way for him to manage a decent growl.
