hah, i agree with sev here.
even if jonan was happy for some reason he would get mad just for being happy
posted at 12:23am on November 19th, 2012
That's....
that's pretty likely, actually.
(Even madder if you dared to comment on him being happy.)

This comment just made me laugh. XD
Sev: *happens to glance into the room RIGHT as Jonan smiles* AH-HA! JONAN SMILED! HE'S NOT A COMPLETE SOURPUSS! *runs away yelling it to the household while Jonan struggles to cast a particularly deadly runespell*

M-my little Kerby... SO CUTE. *3* And now the icon I made you so long ago is finally relevant.

OH MY GOSH it totally is.
but which one to use
posted at 10:07pm on November 20th, 2012
It needs to be a blend of the two. Capitalize My Little in the first one and do an outline of that heart shape thingie. That'll totally sell it.
(These are awesome.)

... I am slightly unnerved because MLP was the second thing I thought of upon seeing Ponykerby. (The first of course being "EEEEEEEEEEEEEE 8D <3<3<3")
He should be canon. He really should. Teaching the ponies that friendship really doesn't stop when you're dead!

Oh my. This is the cutest thing I have ever seen.

Things I never though I'd say, "That is the cutest zombie pet I've ever seen."

That is both strangely and disturbingly cute.

"I just bought a pony made of diamonds, 'cause I'm rich. So y'know, that's cool. 'Kay bye!"

Truly Jonan is the zombie equivalent of Handsome Jack. Also it has TINY FEETIES. TINY FUZZY FEETIES. I shall love him forever.

Confession: his fluffy feets are my absolute favourite part

He's a mini Friesian! :D

Lol, initially I thought this was a dog... XD It's about the right size.
posted at 6:39am on November 19th, 2012
Given that he's abnormally tiny* and covered in half-rotted flesh, I'd say this is a reasonable mix-up. xD
*he's actually pretty close to seeing-eye-pony-size. I just think they're super cute!

That is the cutest zombie pony in the history of history! Just sayin'. Cause it's true.

That can't be a crowded field.

Sharp and hard bone instead of soft flesh. That kind of affection has to hurt. I wonder how intelligent or autonomous those zombies are?
posted at 9:55am on November 19th, 2012
Okay. I did not expect this to happen. (And I thought it was a - weirdly long-tailed - dog as well.)
Also, sort of unrelated things I want to comment on:
I browsed through you deviant art gallery and found numerous RW-related stuff. So many things to look forward! So exciting and foreshadowing :D
Also I read the Cast page. And Oh My Gosh!
Jonan I though was 40ish. He is apparently 29! Oh well, could blame on the whole zombie-nerd, sun-deprivation thing.
But then Esra I though was like 20-something. Nope, he is 30... ooookay o.O
And then Quentin Agorath is 23?! WHAT? :O I though he was like 50. He's actually younger than Esra.
Am I the only one totally dumbfounded by this?

No, I know what you mean! The ages took me for a loop as well. I saw them, freaked out, went back and looked at a bunch of pictures and finaly thought, "Yeah, I can see it."
posted at 4:47pm on November 19th, 2012
Oh man, that dA gallery has so much old stuff in it! xD Allllmost everything in there has been introduced, but there's still a few future-things hiding in there...!
Hahahaha, oh man, this comic is full of people who don't quite look their age! Though I think Master Agorath would look his age if he'd just get some sleep sometime.
(Jonan, on the other hand, would throw anyone for a loop. Pretty sure he doesn't look 29 at all.)

Just got done tearing through the archive... it feels odd, reading a comic for the first time, but recognizing characters from having read TNH.
Also, Kerby is awesome.

B'AWWWWW! Cutest sweetest zombie ponydogthing EVER! I want oooone. =D Yay for Jonan having a soft side!
On another note....is....is Jonan really sulking on the floor in a dark room like an upset little boy?
He is, isn't he. *SIGH* Jonan, Jonan, Jonan. You NEEDED a Kirby nudge.
posted at 5:03pm on November 19th, 2012
SOMETIMES YOU JUST NEED A SMALL HORSE SKULL TO HEADBUTT YOU IN THE BACK, Y'KNOW?
Jonan would protest that this is QUITE unnecessary, but he is wrong.
(I kind of want one too)

He is. He really is.
This week's selection of comments is, by the way, the most hilarious and enjoyable set to read since I started reading this comic. *has no life and enjoys comment stalking* =D
And on that note, there really IS such thing as a seeing-eye pony?! 0.o How did Jonan luck into finding the corpse of one?
(And one COULD potentially say that you DO have one, since you invented Kirby and may call him yours. =D Plus you get the bonus of not having to deal with potential zombie negative side effects, like dry rotting skin flakes and various strange smells. ...DO zombies smell, or does the spell contain that? I am now fascinated in this subject.)

They really do exist! They're for people who are allergic to dogs. Or for people who prefer horses, I guess. I thought they were technically mini horses, though, not ponies. I could be wrong. (Also I apparently can't stop commenting on this page.)

Don't know how interested you'll be, but I was poking around TV Tropes and noticed the Runewriters page there was a little... underdone, so I got started on expanding its description and adding examples. If anyone wants to take over from there...

OKAY I WASN'T GOING TO ANSWER COMMENTS UNTIL TOMORROW BUT I HAVE TO POP IN AND THANK YOU FOR BOTH YOUR AWESOME WORK ON THIS TROPE PAGE AND FOR ALERTING ME TO ITS PRESENCE
Holy crap let's see if I can stop holding shift
I am way too excited about this

Ahahahahahaha okay now that I have read it and am slightly more coherent -- I enjoy your choices so much! Laser-Guided Karma is perfect, I laughed really hard at Walking Shirtless Scene going to Sev, and You Gotta Have Blue Hair was one I hadn't even THOUGHT of. xD
(I'd be lying if I said I haven't gone through TVTropes trying to find matches for my stories well before actually starting a webcomic. Fun fact: the Squishy Wizard trope was originally suggested and written by me! I suggested it because I couldn't find a trope like that to describe Jonan. The fact that it has now been ACTUALLY used to describe Jonan on a TV tropes page feels like some grand purpose has finally been accomplished. I'M SO PLEASED )
Gosh, this is so thoughtfully written up, too! I'm floored! I think the only one I'd quibble on is The Voiceless (technically The Voiceless can talk but doesn't, and The Speechless actually can't talk? I think?) but I will leave that to someone else to ponder. It would feel a little weird gettin' all Word Of God on my own TV Tropes page, haha xD
posted at 10:37pm on November 20th, 2012
Is The Speechless a trope? *checks* I was not actually aware, though I probably should've checked before because it is a much better choice! I don't frequent TV Tropes as much as I used to, and usually stop by the pages of other works for inspiration when I want to populate a particularly bare-looking page, so that's pretty much how I ended up with Voiceless, from another work entirely. Laser-Guided Karma, meanwhile, came from someone's comment here nicknaming the spell-rebound girl "Karma."
Also, Squishy Wizard going full circle is pretty hilarious.

Oh, I feel compelled to ask, being a rampant gamer nerd myself... Have you put any thought to a playable system or rules for Runewriters stuff? Even just the magic system. I compulsively try to figure out how I'd want to run a tabletop game of half the stuff I read or watch (or even play, with some video games), but I imagine if anyone would have tried to crunch out this stuff for play already it'd be you or someone close to. If for some reason you're averse to the idea, I won't poke any further.
posted at 3:56am on November 21st, 2012
Oh, I definitely have, for a couple of different systems! Though anything I do work out will prooooobably wait until we've seen more of the magic system in the actual comic before I ever put it online, haha.
I'm not opposed to the idea at all, though! And if you wanted to share a thought on how something might work at some point, I'd probably be all ears. xD

I'm kind of eyeballing FATE, particularly the Dresden Files RPG's rules on enchanted items and potions. They work... kind of similarly to what we've seen of runes so far, and there are rules to leave potions "undefined" until you decide to say, "Aha, I have just the potion I need for this situation!" A bit like Sev's little cheaty trick with a simple rune to write a more complex spell on his body, effectively having an undefined rune at all times.
There really isn't enough on magic in the comic yet to do more than sketch out the broad strokes though, yeah, and I can definitely understand wanting to wait on the comic to share your crunch-work. I'm bad about getting this kind of tinkering started and then just petering out real quick, so not exactly going to hammer the point too much anyway.
