Am I the only kid who was disconcerted that bad guys like Skeletor always seem to be able to enunciate perfectly? What, "He-Man?" You can't say "MAN." YOU DON'T HAVE ANY LIPS.

Anyway.
As always, people with a hankering to see how I work and/or how messy my first draft of this was can VOTE on TopWebComics! I stick all my progress work there.

Okay I am TOTALLY with you on the Skeletor thing. And what's the deal with Skeletor being at least as muscular as He-Man?!?!? HE'S A SKELETON!Ah, well, if a magic sword can give a Prince muscles he never had, I guess some other kind of magic ca give Skeletor muscles too. But that still doesn't explain his lack of enunciation problems at all.

Iiiiii dunno. I guess he could be like... magically creating sound, and just moving his jaw around so everyone's not all "WHERE IS THAT STRANGE VOICE COMING FROM."

I like that included "Oh." in the last panel. Delayed reaction!

I think if I were in that situation I'd be freaking out. Freaking out would be an extreme understatement, actually. Then again, I'm not a shapeshifter. XD

Oh, no worries. *handflap* This happens all the time~!

...Not sure how well a handflap works with tentacles, hm. But yes, given that magic is somewhat unpredictable, and that Severian likes trying crazy things, I'm sure he's had stuff like this happen before!

Handflap + tentacles = tentacles in some unfortunate passerby's face

Hmm, I was expecting them to at least try to hit him once before he changed back. :P

It looks like your runes are malfunctioning, dude. Or you're just distracted and didn't concentrate enough to change back fully.

And I had to go back and check for the rats thing, because I didn't notice it in the last two panels on the prior page. In my defense, it is fairly difficult to distinguish the shape of a rat when it's got green seaweedy skin and eyes all over its body. But you did a good job explaining the shape right back there to get it across.

I assume that the woman magicked the glowy knife to be especially effective against Aberrants? (Which means it would have really, really hurt him if it had been used on him in Aberrant form.)

Ahahaha, I obviously need to put some swishy lines on that sword in panel 2, because I don't think anyone has gotten that he's supposed to be taking a swing at him there. XD

I'm glad the thing with the facestealer makes sense now, though! I had debated illustrating them as straight-up faceless rats, but like, if I had to show them turning all grey and rat-coloured I thought that might be EVEN MORE CONFUSING.

Also, nice guess! But the ritualist has already hinted at what the dagger is primarily for. :3

I didn't notice the rats either, but now that it's been pointed out, they're oddly cute! With the tentacle tails and that running-hopping stride.

Well done Shazz, for making tentacle-rats cute!

Yeah, swishy lines on the sword are really necessary. Even looking at it after you telling me he's swinging, it's not coming across, since it looks like a pose he's making without any action lines. :P

No, the rat thing worked. It's just that you might have missed them the first time, but you pointed the rats out on this page, so it fixes that.

I'll have to go back and re-read what the ritualist said then.

That did always bug me. And he's a skeleton. He doesn't even have a tongue.

I always wonder how people can assume skeletons are capable of speech. Plus, I'm not sure how animals would speak either. Their tongues are different and so are their vocal folds. Maybe it would work, but it would take super duper practice. XD
