You may or may not have noticed, but Jonan has joined the cast page! To be honest I was waiting until I could get at least one picture of him with his hair not-wet. I've also made all the character songs into links, so if you were desperately curious what songs I associate with these characters you can now give 'em a listen! c:

Hahaha, I like how it's easier to see Jonan's real age when you see how he behaves. He may look older, but really he's just a twenty-something kid sulking when he doesn't get his way.

So, wait. The doorman's line in the flashback is exactly what he said to Severian and Tareth. Is that from when they were at the door? Is... is an absurd amount of interruptions... one?

I could be wrong, but that symbol on the girl's hand looks suspiciously like the one Esra, Master Agorath, and the ritualist redhead girl all have on their hands (only noticed after reading cast page). Is she connected to them?

Wait, so do the zombies actually say things when they're groaning which only Necromancers can hear? Or is Jonan giving them all silly voices in his head?
And how different are those two options really?
So many questions that go unanswered and in fact probably didn't have to be asked in the first place!

hmm... wonder if she's the girl whose eyes he "healed" shut... the spell could have gotten away from him somehow (and the vines seem like a good way to catch somebody... if you don't get stuck in them instead)

Oh, doggonit, why did my comment not post. Oh well, rewrite time. I've probably forgotten half of what I said, but I'm sure I'll find other things to comment about instead. XD
Firstly, I love your borders for the flashback sequence! Most people go all dark and misty, but I like the contrast of the almost cheery parchment look. Also, I am slightly surprised that you did not add that zombie dog there to your list of creatures from this comic that you wish you had as a pet.
Could the girl possibly be a runewriter? She seems to have some markings on her hand, so maybe she is a new necromancer and felt like she needed to steal the equipment a more experienced necromancer. Although after reading Why?!?'s comment, I am now suspicious abotu her being from Esra's group. I GUESS WE WILL SEE!
And finally, who would have thought that younger Jonan would actually cute? I wouldn't have. And yet he is.

I love this page. I really like the setup and how you handle flashbacks. And that zombie dog-thing in panel six is so cute!
As for the cast page, I laughed at the first Jonan picture. Even out of context, one can tell "Oh, Jonan and Tareth are reacting to Sev saying something.... Severian-ish."
I used to keep having to remind myself that Jonan isn't -that- much older than I am. But on the other hand, I can see it.
