Oh yeah, that.

As always, if you vote for Runewriters, you get a silly doodle! This one explains some of my, uh, process in making this page.

Vote Incentive for This Comic.

Hmmmm, very interesting. "aid this Order in our research" . . . . that doesn't exactly have a defined ending point. Very sneaky, Quentin.

Re vote incentive:
What? Wha...what? Whaaaaat? Wha...t?

Re page:
So by these rituals we mean ordinary runewriting or something extra? And if Quentin lacks magic, does this ritual still count as magic? And what does "magical encouragement" really mean? And even more so: how does death Not end this oath? Are there ghosts? Or this oath can be inherited or what? So many questions still :D

Great page though, love the subtle humour that it has.

it means that killing the other person doesn't stop you from having to keep up your end. so the guy can't just kill quentin after he gets fixed, or they can't just kill him when he 'retrieves' the notes.

I'm pretty sure it also means DYING doesn't release you from holding up your end, either.

Dragonking has it! :"D It's just there to keep either side from murdering the other.

The vote incentive is just about me forgetting the invented rules of my own world, haha. It's not like there's ever a HOW RITUALS WORK guide in the comic, but I did invent a lot of rules for myself about more-or-less how they function so that I could keep everything consistent.

In response to the doodle: Have I mentioned that your hilarious mastery of facial expressions is, like, my favorite thing about your art? Well, now I have. And Kudos to you for being thorough in your worldbuilding! =D

In response to the comic page: I find Quentin's apparantly sudden ability to be serious and explanatory to be quite fascinating. Apparantly he just needs the right motivation and/or to be actually interested in the conversation. And we all KNOW that this is gonna go south for our friendly puppeteer. It's just a question of exactly how it will go south, and how far (say, Florida VS the equator VS the very tippy-top of the South Pole). I'm betting somewhere between equator and South Pole, personally. But we shall see!

Ahhhhh thank you so much!

See, Quentin's not INCOMPETENT.... his area of expertise is just....very...narrow. xD

Sooo... this oath, is it the kind of binding oath which we already saw retroactively altered, that one time?
Methinks the puppeteer is about to receive a lesson in manipulating people...

Quentin is so ineffably blasé. I guess I like it? It's like he has some sort of power that makes the runewriter just not matter, putting aside the fact that the runewriter can obviously control Quentin's physical body to some extent...

Either he's got the upper hand or he's just not paying attention.

From what we've seen of Quentin I'm...... not sure which is more likely.

Would this be the same or related to the ritual oath that one of his assistants said he altered retroactively? Or something to that effect.

Ya know - when we first met Quinten, i thought he might be a bit unlikable.

As that sequence progressed, i decided that he was VERY unlikable.

I am now convinced he is loathsome.
